Our philosophy
A tradition of excellence beyond the classroom
PSI has a proud sporting tradition, and we provide opportunities for involvement and competition at every level.
We set high standards and are inclusive in our approach, built on active and healthy living, teamwork and personal achievement. From a broad foundation in the arts to excellence in their chosen interests, our students develop imagination and creativity for life.
Art & Craft
Weekly lessons introduce a variety of materials and techniques, and art is woven into other subjects. Work is displayed around the school and at the annual art exhibition. Needlecraft is offered from Class III upwards on Saturdays.
Music
Listening and performing skills develop in weekly lessons, from rhymes in elementary to folk and classical music. Students perform at assemblies, important days and school functions.
Physical Education
Exercise, ball games, team games and athletics, with an emphasis on teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship: two or three games periods a week plus a longer weekly session.
Trips & Excursions
Field trips are a highlight of school life. Senior classes may travel out of the city or abroad; younger students take local trips. Teachers always accompany students and signed parental permission is required.
The House System
Students belong to one of three houses, Courage, Endeavour and Honour, each with its own colour and a member of the cat family as its symbol. Houses compete in sports, academics and elections.
