Flashback October 2017

1-Happy Teacher’s Day
Teachers are beacons of light, love and support. They work hard to make a difference in a child’s life. On Thursday, 5th October 2017 Teacher’s Day was celebrated. Ma’am Ashraf brought a beautiful basket filled with goodies for the teachers. It was a highly commendable gesture and everyone absolutely admired it. This was followed by the students’ acknowledgement. The school echoed with the sounds of “Happy Teacher’s Day” from every nook and corner. We held an extended assembly in which students from different classes paid tribute to the incessant efforts made by their teachers.
Yoza Ilyas, Amna Farrukh, Manahil Awan, Zunaira Abdul- Qadir, Naymal Awais, Khadija Khan, Hajera Atif, Aiza Saqib and Rayad Khaqan were some of the students who delivered speeches to honour their teachers.


2- Nursery’s Yellow Day

“Sunflowers, Marigolds, Honeybees and the big bright sun!

Nursery’s yellow day is beaming with fun.”

On Thursday, October 12th, 2017 the children of Nursery were all draped in yellow. They painted their own headgear, designed as honeybees.These activities inspire creativity and invoke the spirit of joy in the classroom.


3- Grade VII Assembly Presentation

Assembly presentations are a part of PSI’s weekly schedule. We usually don’t mention them in our flashback. However, on Thursday, 12th October, 2017 grade VII presented a very interesting play which needs to be mentioned here. Anaya Bakshi, Sardar Nadir Ahmed Khan, Krish Vankwani, Arooj Wazir, Amna Sohail Abbasi, Rubab Ali, Jahanara Khan and Semira Khan presented an excerpt from the much loved sitcom “Mind Your Language.” When Mr. Brown is trying to teach foreigners how to speak English and asks about basic information, many of them struggle to express themselves and he is left with no option but to leave the class. It was a hilarious skit and everyone enjoyed it immensely.



4-Saturday School Activities

On October 14, 2017 the Saturday school activities kickstarted with dancing, cooking, singing and painting. Children from grade I to grade VII participate in these activities which provide them a much needed break from their daily academic routine. These activities play an important role in shaping and directing the passion and interest of the students.


5- Dental Checkup

Dr. Mariam and Dr. Palvisha from Dr. Noeen’s Dental Clinic involved the children in a demo and discussion on dental hygiene and healthy eating habits through multimedia. The children’s individual dental checkups were conducted. Certificates and giveaways were distributed by the team.


6- New Computer Lab

The benefits of having a proper computer lab in school are unquestionable. It enhances and benefits students’ learning experience and expands their knowledge. On Tuesday, October 17, 2017 the new and updated computer lab opened its doors for students. The usage of Microsoft word and Microsoft excel are being taught to the students as it is a prerequisite in the modern day world.


7- Senior Student Council Takes Oath

 “With courage we endeavour to uphold the honour of our family, our school and our beloved country. “

 On Tuesday, October 17, 2017 senior students council took oath. It was a dignified ceremony and the whole school was present. The members of the council were finally awarded their badges and through the oath taking ceremony, taught the importance of being a council member. The position puts a heavy responsibility on their shoulders as well as swells their hearts with pride.


 8- Fruit Day

On Wednesday, October 18, 2017, Nursery celebrate Fruit Day. It was a Show’ n Tell activity. Children brought different kinds of fruit from home.  They learned about their size, colour, shape and flavour, thus facilitating their learning abilities.



9- Story Telling Session

“Reading is dreaming with open eyes” and that is why PSI puts in so much effort to promote it. On Thursday, October 19, 2017 a story narrating session was held by Sophia Ladha’s grandmother. She read the story “Waskit in my Basket” written by Dr. Suzi. The story stimulated the children’s interest and  they listened  with awe and admiration in their eyes. If you have never given reading to your children a try, then always remember, it is never too late to mend.



10- First Parent Teacher Meeting

Attending a parent teacher meeting is a way to be involved and help your child succeed. It is a great opportunity to have on-going conversations with your child’s teachers. On Saturday,  October 28, 2017 the first parent teacher meeting was conducted for the preschool and for grades V-VIII. The parents sat face to face with the teachers and discussed their children’s weaknesses and strengths. This consultation between parents and teachers provides a platform to benefit the child in the long run.

11. A Successful Completion of the First Session of Robotics

 We completed the first session of robotics successfully.. The second session has started from Thursday, 3rd November, 2017. A newsletter is attached to give you further information on this.
