Our Philosophy

PSI has a tradition of sporting excellence. We continue to provide opportunities for involvement in sport and competition at every level. We set high standards and are inclusive in or approach which is underlined by active and healthy living, teamwork and personal achievement. Our facilities and staff support a range of activities for each year group, allowing our students to find and develop their supporting talents in every direction.

Excellent facilities, expert coaching, exciting performance, everyone is welcome to join in and the benefits are clear for other areas of school life and personal development.

From a broad foundation in the arts to the pursuit of excellence in their chosen areas of interest, our students develop their imagination and creativity for life.

Art & Craft

The arts programme at PSI introduces children to a variety of art materials and techniques during the weekly lessons. Art is integrated in the classroom with other subjects at every opportunity. Students’ work is displayed throughout the school and in the annual art exhibition to encourage expression and creative development.  In the elementary classes, students’ art work is accumulated in a personal art folder. Needle craft includes knitting, crochet and embroidery and is offered to students from Class III upwards on Saturday.

Music

Music skills, covering both listening and performing are developed and enhanced in weekly music lessons. Beginning with singing rhymes in the elementary classes, students are gradually introduced to folk and classical music.

They are provided with numerous opportunities to perform throughout the year at weekly assemblies, important days and school functions.

Regular practice and rehearsals session enable children to sing melodiously and enchant the audience at school function. It’s true that music is food for the soul and we at PSI endorse this view completely.

Physical Education

This consists of exercise, ball games, team games, and athletics. Emphasis is laid on the social aspects such as teamwork, fair play and sportsman spirit. The Physical Education programme includes two/three games periods per week and a 1½ hour session once a week in the afternoon.

PSI has facilities on the premises for coaching students by a fully trained instructor in basketball, table tennis, badminton and other ball games. Indoor games like chess, checkers, carom board and scrabble are a substitute for rainy days.

Trips & Excursion

Field trips are an essential part of education at PSI and one of the highlights of the school’s academic and social programme. All classes go on field trips according to age and syllabus requirements. Senior classes may be taken out of city or abroad while younger students are usually taken on local trips subject to weather conditions. Since the children’s security is the foremost consideration, provision is made for a suitable number of teachers and school staff to accompany them. Signed parental permission is required for all field trips

The House System

The students of PSI are grouped in three houses COURAGE, ENDEAVOUR and HONOUR to promote a healthy spirit of competition. Each house has a member of the cat family as its symbol and has also been allotted a specific colour. Sports and curriculum related competitions, assessment results and elections. Nomination Student’s Council is held on house-wise basis.
